How to Repartition Your Hard Drive

I was running low on hard drive space, so I decided to hook up one of Western Digital's "trusty" old Caviar 22100 2.1G hard drives (1997 vintage).  I found that it was half dead and wouldn't even let me repartition it.

So, I decided to do it manually.

If you would like to do this yourself, here are the steps taken:

1. Prepare for fdisk

2. in-Validate the drive.

3. Look for hardware faults.

4. Separate the partitions, and look out for any fragmentation.

5. Admire the results of your hard work - a freshly repartitioned drive!
